7 Types of Water Treatment Methods

Do you know the water treatment methods?Today we will discuss about 6 types of water treatment methods.

1. Softened water treatment technology

There are two commonly used technologies for softening water. One is to remove calcium and magnesium ions from water by ion exchange resin to reduce water hardness; the other is nanocrystal technology, which uses the high energy generated by nanocrystals to remove free calcium and magnesium ions in water. Packed into nano-level crystals to prevent free ions from generating scale.

2. Activated carbon adsorption water treatment technology

Granular activated carbon is more commonly used, mostly in essence, coal, nut shells and other carbonaceous materials are made by chemical or physical activation methods. It has many micropores and specific surface area, has strong adsorption capacity, can effectively adsorb water in organic pollutants and also can effectively remove some metal ions in the water.

3. RO reverse osmosis membrane water treatment technology

RO reverse osmosis is a kind of pure water machine that can be directly consumed by human beings produced by filtering the raw water without adding any compound through the current internationally popular reverse osmosis and other methods. The water quality is in line with the “Drinking Water” Water Quality Sanitation Code. It is a very effective water treatment technology and is currently widely used in the market.

4. Microfiltration and ultrafiltration water treatment technology

The microfiltration method is a microporous filter membrane made of cellulose or polymer materials, using its uniform pore size to trap microorganisms, bacteria, colloids, etc. in the water, so that they can be removed without passing through the membrane, and can filter micron or nano-level particles and bacteria.

5. Distillation water treatment technology

Distillation refers to boiling water, then collecting steam, cooling it and condensing it into a liquid. Distillation is extremely safe drinking water, but there are some problems that need to be further studied. Because distilled water does not contain minerals, this has become the reason why opponents propose that human life is prone to aging. In addition, the use of distillation is costly, consumes energy, and cannot remove volatile substances in water.

6. Ultraviolet sterilizer water treatment technology

Ultraviolet is a kind of light that is invisible to the naked eye. It exists on the outside of the ultraviolet end of the spectrum. Modern ultraviolet disinfection technology is based on modern epidemic prevention, optics, biology and physical chemistry, using special high-efficiency, high-intensity and long-life ultraviolet. The light generating device generates strong ultraviolet light to irradiate the water stream. When various bacteria, viruses, parasites, algae, and other pathogens in the water are exposed to a certain dose of ultraviolet light, the cells in them will be destroyed. Under the circumstances, the bacteria and viruses in the water can be killed, and the purpose of disinfection and purification can be achieved.

7. Ozone water tank self-cleaning disinfector water treatment technology

Ozone is a good disinfection material. The ozone gas produced by the self-cleaning disinfector of the ozone water tank has strong oxidation and catalysis, and has a strong killing effect on various bacteria and viruses. The effect and speed of ozone disinfection and sterilization are better than ultraviolet, chlorine and other chemical disinfectants, and no secondary pollution. The current ozone water tank self-cleaning disinfector technology has been widely used internationally.

How Does The Injection Molding Machine Work?

The working principle of the injection molding machine is similar to the syringe used for injection. It uses the thrust of the screw (or plunger) to inject the plasticized plastic in the molten state (that is, the viscous fluid state) into the closed mold cavity. The process of obtaining the product after curing and shaping. Injection molding is a cyclic process, and each cycle mainly includes: quantitative feeding-melting and plasticizing-pressure injection-mold filling and cooling-mold opening and picking. After taking out the plastic part, the mold is closed again for the next cycle.

An injection molding machine has two basic components: an injection device and a mold clamping device for melting and feeding plastic into the mold.

The function of the clamping device is:

1. Make the mold close under the condition of withstand the injection pressure;

2. Take the product out of the injection device to melt the plastic before it is injected into the mold, and then control the pressure and speed to inject the melt into the mold. The injection device used today has two designs: screw preplasticizer or two-stage device, and reciprocating screw. The screw pre-plasticizer uses a pre-plasticizing screw (first stage) and then injects molten plastic into the injection rod (second stage).

The advantages of the screw preplasticizer are constant melt quality, high pressure and high speed, and precise injection volume control (using mechanical thrust devices at both ends of the piston stroke). These advantages are required for transparency, thin-walled products and high production rates. Its disadvantages include uneven residence time (causing material degradation), higher equipment costs and maintenance costs.

The most commonly used reciprocating screw injection device does not require a plunger to melt and inject the plastic.

The basic functions of the injection molding machine

(1) Heat the plastic to reach a molten state;

(2) Apply high pressure to the molten plastic to make it eject and fill the mold cavity.

What Is An Injection Molding Machine

Injection molding machine is also known as injection machine. It is the main molding equipment for making thermoplastic or thermosetting plastics into various shapes of plastic products using plastic molding dies.

Main types of injection molding machines

1. Rubber injection molding: Rubber injection molding is a production method in which rubber is injected directly from the barrel into the model to vulcanize. The advantages of rubber injection molding are: although it is an intermittent operation, the molding cycle is short, the production efficiency is high, the blank preparation process is eliminated, the labor intensity is small, and the product quality is excellent.

2. Plastic injection: Plastic injection is a method of plastic products. The molten plastic is injected into the plastic product mold by pressure, and then cooled and molded to obtain various plastic parts. There are mechanical injection molding machines dedicated to injection molding. The most commonly used plastics are polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, PA, polystyrene, etc.

3. Molding and injection molding: The resulting shape is often the final product, and no other processing is required before installation or use as the final product. Many details, such as protrusions, ribs, and threads, can be formed in one step of injection molding.

Advantages

The main advantage of injection moulding is being able to scale up production to produce a large number of parts. Once the initial costs of the design and the moulds have been covered, the price of manufacturing is very low. The cost of production drops as more parts are produced.

Injection moulding also produces minimal wastage when compared to traditional manufacturing processes like CNC machining, which cuts away excess materials. Despite this, injection moulding does produce some waste, mainly from the sprue, the runners, the gate locations, and any overflow material that leaks out of the part cavity (also called ‘flash’).

The final advantage of injection moulding is that it allows for the production of many identical parts, which allows for part reliability and consistency in high volume production.

Applications

Injection moulding is used for a range of applications where a repeatable manufacturing process is required. This includes manufacturing items such as wire spools, packaging, bottle tops, toys, combs, musical instruments (and components), chairs, small tables, storage containers, mechanical parts, and automotive parts and components.

Injection moulding is the most common method for manufacturing plastic parts, particularly in high volumes.

What Is The Screening Process Of Water Treatment?

The quality of raw water is very complicated, and a series of filtration steps are required to obtain the required water quality, so the filtration process of water treatment is necessary.

Filtration is an operation that uses a certain porous medium to separate the suspension. When working, under the action of external force, the liquid in the suspension flows out through the pores of the medium, and the solid particles are intercepted, thereby achieving separation. Generally, the suspension to be filtered is called the filter slurry; the porous medium used is called the filter medium; the liquid passing through the pores of the medium is called the filtrate; the retained solid is called the filter cake or filter residue.

The driving force of the filtration operation is the pressure difference between the upstream and downstream sides of the filter medium.

There are several ways to generate the pressure difference:

  ①Using the pressure head of the filter pulp itself;

  ②Pressure on the surface of the filter slurry;

  ③Pull a vacuum on the downstream side of the filter medium;

      ④Using inertial centrifugal force.

The filtering operation can be divided into two categories according to the principle of action:

① The mesh size of the sieve filter filter medium is smaller than the diameter of the solid particles, and the solid particles are removed from the suspension by the sieve analysis.

In the initial stage of filtration, the fine particles flow out and the filtrate is relatively turbid. With the formation and thickening of the cake layer, the filtrate gradually becomes clear. Due to the gradual blockage of the sieve holes, the filtration rate is in a decreasing trend. During the filtration process, when the filter cake layer is formed, the sieving effect is produced by the cake layer, and the filter medium loses the sieving effect and only plays the role of supporting the cake layer, which is called cake layer filtration.

②Adsorption filtration (deep bed filtration): The mesh of the filter medium is larger than the diameter of the solid particles, and the solid particles are absorbed by the surface of the medium after entering the pores of the filter medium.

In actual production, sieving and adsorption work simultaneously, and the adsorption filter medium retains larger particles; the sieving filter medium cake layer can adsorb smaller particles.

What Is Cooling Water Treatment

Today we will detailed explain what is cooling water treatment.

The concept of circulating cooling water

Circulating cooling water refers to the exchange of heat through the heat exchanger or direct contact heat exchange method to exchange the heat of the medium and the cooling water is recycled through the cooling tower to save water resources. In general, the circulating water is neutral and weakly alkaline, and the pH value is controlled between 7 and 9 [1]. In the case that the circulating cooling water in direct contact with the medium is acidic or alkaline (pH 10.0), it is generally less.

The cooling principle of circulating water

The cooling of circulating water is the result of the three processes of evaporative heat dissipation, contact heat dissipation and radiation heat dissipation through the contact between water and air.

1) Evaporation heat dissipation: Water forms large and small droplets or very thin water film in the cooling equipment, expands its contact area with air and prolongs the contact time to strengthen the evaporation of water, so that water vapor will be taken away from the water for vaporization. The heat thus cools the water.

2) Contact heat dissipation: Water is in contact with air at a lower temperature. Due to the temperature difference, the heat in the hot water is transferred to the air, and the water temperature is reduced.

3) Radiation heat dissipation: the phenomenon that heat energy is transmitted in the form of electromagnetic waves without the effect of heat transfer medium.

The role of these three heat dissipation processes in water cooling varies with the physical properties of the air. In spring, summer, and autumn, the outdoor temperature is relatively high, and surface evaporation plays a major role. In winter, due to the decrease in temperature, the effect of contact heat dissipation increases.

Hazards caused by circulating cooling water operation obstacles

The cooling water is continuously circulated in the circulating system. Due to the increase in water temperature, flow rate changes, evaporation, and concentration of various inorganic ions and organic substances, the cooling tower and cooling pool are exposed to sunlight, wind, rain, dust and debris outdoors. The entry of the equipment, and the combined effect of various factors such as the structure and materials of the equipment, will cause many problems.

Scale adhesion

In the circulating cooling water system, the concentration of bicarbonate increases with evaporation and concentration. When its concentration reaches a supersaturated state, or when the water temperature of the heat transfer surface rises, it will decompose to form carbonate and deposit on the heat transfer surface, forming a dense, slightly soluble salt scale, which has poor thermal conductivity. Therefore, the adhesion of scale will reduce the heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger. In severe cases, the heat exchanger will be blocked, the resistance of the system will increase, the efficiency of the water pump and cooling tower will decrease, local corrosion will be accelerated, and even abnormal production will be stopped.

Equipment corrosion

In the circulating cooling water system, a large number of equipment is made of metal. Long-term use of circulating cooling water will cause corrosion and perforation. This is caused by many factors, mainly: electrochemical corrosion caused by dissolved oxygen in the cooling water; corrosion caused by harmful ions (); corrosion caused by microorganisms. Corrosion and perforation of the pipe wall of the equipment will cause leakage, or the process medium will leak into the cooling water, losing materials and polluting the water body; or the cooling water will seep into the process medium, affecting product quality, causing economic losses, and affecting safe production.

Microbial growth and slime

In the circulating water, due to the concentration of nutrients, the increase in water temperature and sunlight, create conditions for the rapid reproduction of bacteria and algae. The mucus secreted by the bacteria makes the dust, impurities and chemical deposits floating in the water stick together, forming deposits that adhere to the heat transfer surface, that is, biological slime or soft dirt. The adhesion of sludge will cause corrosion, and the cooling water flow will be reduced, thereby reducing the cooling efficiency; in severe cases, the pipeline will be blocked, forcing the suspension of production and cleaning.

In summary, after long-term recycling of cooling water, it will inevitably bring about scaling, corrosion and microbial growth problems. Solving these three problems can stabilize production, save resources and energy, thereby reduce environmental pollution and improve economic benefits.
